Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has a strong advisory for cinemas in India to do not allow minors to watch a movie adult certified. It has shared in the notice that according to Section 7 of the
Cinematograph Act, 1952 If any person – exhibits or permits to be exhibited in any place allowing
minors to watch the Adult-certified movies.
It says that any upcoming film, which has been certified by the Board as suitable for public exhibition restricted to adults, is shown to any person who is not an adult shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees, or with both.
The board has taken it seriously and therefore informed all the theatre owners are advised to take due care in this regard so that box office movies and trend in cinema halls do not create bad impressions on minors thoughts and growth. Stringent action as per the law, would be taken in case of violations.
The advisory to theatre owners released to do not allow minors to any such movie in cinema halls which is Adult certified. It is expected that an improved section for OTT platforms and video channels will be there for cinemas, so minors are not exploited.
