Closing dialogue from Amitab Bachchan fits for this one of best evergreen classics of Bollywood. From few time, we were planning to start a new section – Bollwood Classics Collection. The most difficult decision for our team was to decide the first movie in this collection. And today, finally e all are agreed for Anand.
Anand is a motivational drama movie. Anand writer director was Hrishikesh Mukherjee and released in 1971. Two legends Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan were in main lead roles. Rajesh Khanna who was superstar at that time, lived the title role. His performance in role of Anand is considered as his best ever performance. He was a cancer patient in the movie, who lives his life fullest, and a inspiration to others. Some fans believe that character of Anand has become bigger than Rajesh Khanna himself with time.
Amitabh Bhachchan, who was in second lead, played the role of Bhaskar – cancer specialist and doctor of Anand. Bhaskar was a idiol doctor, but his life was limited to himself and his profession. When Bhaskar met Anand, his life change, and he learnt that his emotions are his power, not his weakness. In a very linited time, he got attach with Anand alike others.
The dialogues were written by Gulzar. It is widely considered as one of the best films of Hindi film industry. Upon its release, the film was a major hit. Indiatimes Movies ranks the movie amongst the “Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films”. It is listed in “Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s best films” compiled by rediff.com.
