Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the Artificial Intelligence foremost researcher. He is working to create a machine with full range of human emotions that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known. His highly controversial experiments makes him top priority in the hit list of anti-technology extremists. In their successful attack, Dr. Will Caster reaches the door step of death. He is about to be a part of history. His body is dying, and he got the chance to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, this is the only way to save him. Their question is not if they can, but if they should. After being Transcendence, Dr. Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The worst part is there may be no way to stop him.
