Sridevi, born on 13 August 1963, is one of the most successful and influential Indian actress who has acted over three hundred films throughout her career. She has worked in different language films including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. She is a recipient of numerous awards and nominations, she has won five Filmfare Awards for Best Actress and the Nandi Award for Best Actress. She was honored for her contributions in films by various state governments, including Governments of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. In 2013, she was awarded the Padma Shri India’s fourth highest civilian award from the Government of India. Sridevi began her career as a child artist at the age of four, and continued to act as a child artist in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and later in Bollywood films. She got her first breakthrough as a lead actress with the Tamil film in 1976. Sridevi’s Bollywood debut as a lead actress was in 1978, which was followed by a number of popular films in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2012, Sridevi returned to films after a 15-year long hiatus with English Vinglish.
Madhuri Dixit, born on 15 May 1967, is an Indian film actress who is known for her work in Hindi cinema. Often cited as one of the best actresses in Bollywood, Dixit made her film debut in 1984. She went on to establish herself as one of Hindi cinema’s leading actresses, acknowledged for several of her performances, her beauty, and her accomplished dancing. In 2002, she took a sabbatical from films to raise her children and made a comeback in 2007. Dixit also judged two seasons of a dance show. Dixit has won six Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actress, one for Best Supporting Actress and one special Filmfare award for completing 25 years in Bollywood. She holds the record for the highest number of Best Actress nominations (13) at Filmfare. In 2008, she was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award by the Government of India.
Juhi Chawla, born on 13 November 1967, is an Indian actress, voice actress, film producer, television presenter and former Miss India (1984). After being crowned as the winner of the Miss India beauty contest in 1984, Chawla pursued an acting career. She went on to become one of the top leading actresses of Bollywood and starred in films, which earned her the Filmfare Best Actress Award. Chawla has been mostly recognised for her comic timing in films, vivacious screen persona and is often cited by film media as one of the best actresses of Hindi cinema in the 1990s. Alongside with Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit, Chawla formed the leading trio of actresses of the late 80’s and early 90s. She has also been listed as one of the best actresses who ruled in Bollywood. During the 2000s, after having starred in over 70 mainstream Hindi films, Chawla started acting in art and independent films. She appeared in films in her native tongue Punjabi, and has been mostly working in parallel cinema. She gained critical recognition for her performances in many films. Since 2000, Chawla branched out into film production and television presenting as well. Chawla judged the third season of a dance show. She is also co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Kirron Kher, born on 14 June 1955, is an Indian theatre, film and television actress, a TV talk show host, a Talent Hunt show judge and member of a national political party. Kirron Kher made her film debut in 1983 in the Punjabi feature film and received rave reviews for her performance. She soon took a hiatus from films following her divorce in 1985 to raise her son. Meanwhile, she worked for Anupam Kher as a costume designer and appeared in one film in 1988, wherein she acted alongside Anupam Kher. Her return to acting came about with theatre. Then she hosted three television shows before doing Bollywood films. Her comeback film was by Shyam Benegal, Sardari Begum (1996), which won her the Special Jury Award at the 1997 National Film Awards. In 2000, she appeared in a Bengali film. In 2002, Kirron was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award. For Khamosh Pani (2003), she won the Best Actress Award, at Locarno International Film Festival, Switzerland, the Karachi International Film Festival, Karachi, and International Festivals at Ciepie in Argentina, and Cape Town in South Africa. The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) 2004 paid tribute to Kirron during its annual festival. In October 2004 Kirron made a guest appearance, in the American TV series ER playing Parminder Nagra’s mother, Mrs. Rasgotra, in episode “Damaged”. She also essayed the roles in different tele-series.
Kajol Devgan, born on 5 August 1974, known mononymously as Kajol, is an Indian film actress. She has received six Filmfare Awards from eleven nominations, and along with her late aunt Nutan, holds the record for most Best Actress wins at Filmfare, with five. In 2011, the Government of India awarded her with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of the country. Born to actress Tanuja and film director Shomu Mukherjee, Kajol made her acting debut in 1992 while still in school. She had her first commercial success in 1993. She subsequently earned wide public recognition for playing leading roles in several blockbuster family dramas, including Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995). She earned critical appreciation for playing against type in the 1997 mystery film Gupt and the 1998 psychological thriller Dushman. Following a sabbatical from full-time acting in 2001, Kajol returned to film with the 2006. She continued working infrequently through the rest of the decade, and earned critical acclaim for her work. She, thus, established herself as one of India’s most successful female actors. Kajol is a social activist and is noted for her work with widows and children, for which she received the Karmaveer Puraskaar in 2008. She has featured as a talent judge for Zee TV’s reality show in 2008 and holds a managerial position at Devgn Entertainment and Software. Kajol has been in a relationship with actor Ajay Devgn since 1995. In 1999, they married, and she gave birth to their daughter, Nysa, in 2003 and their son, Yug, in 2010.
Aishwarya Rai, born on 1 November 1973, is popular Indian film actress and model. She is now the bahu of Bachchan family and also know as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The winner of the Miss World pageant 1994 and first runner-up of the Miss India pageant. She made her acting debut in the 1997 biographical film Iruvar. Vidya Balan, born on 1 January 1978, is an Indian actress. She is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards, and five Screen Awards, and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014. She is known for portraying strong female protagonists and has been acknowledged in the media for breaking stereotypes of a Hindi film heroine. Vidya had her first acting role in the 1995. She pursued a master’s degree in sociology from the University of Mumbai and simultaneously made several unsuccessful attempts to start a career in film. She subsequently featured in various television commercials and music videos, and in 2003 made her feature film debut as the protagonist of the independent Bengali drama. In 2005 Vidya garnered praise for her first Hindi film, the musical drama Parineeta, and followed it with a leading role in the different movies, few of which met with negative comments from the critics. The year 2009 marked the beginning of the most successful period in Vidya’s career as she portrayed five consecutive roles to wide critical acclaim. These roles established her as a leading actress of Hindi cinema and earned her the tag of a “female hero”. In addition to acting in films, Vidya promotes humanitarian causes and supports the empowerment of women. She initially drew criticism for her fluctuating weight and “questionable” dress sense, but was later credited in the media for “not morphing herself to fit into any conventional slot”. She is married to the film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur.
Kareena Kapoor, born on 21 September 1980, is the daughter of actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita, and now wife of Saif Ali Khan so also know as Kareena Kapoor Khan. She is the younger sister of actress Karisma Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor has received six Filmfare Awards, and has established herself as one of Bollywood’s highest-paid actresses. She is known in the Indian media for being publicly outspoken and assertive, and is recognised for her contributions to the film industry through her fashion style and film roles. Apart from an actress and stage performer, she has contributed as a co-author to three books: an autobiographical memoir, and two nutrition guides. She has also launched her own clothing line in association with the retail chain Globus.
Deepika Padukone, born on born 5 January 1986, is the most popular and attractive Indian celebrities now days. The daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. She was first a badmintor player but later become a fashion model and then a popular actress in bollywood. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in the tragic romance Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Alongside her acting career, Padukone participates in stage shows, has written columns for an Indian newspaper, and is a prominent celebrity endorser for brands and products. Her off-screen life is the subject of fervent tabloid reporting in India. She is not so much involved socially, but we hope that there will be a news soon about her social engagement.
Kangana Ranaut, born on 23 March 1987, is a daughter in a rajput family. Her monther Asha Ranaut is a school teacher, and father Amardeep Ranaut is a businessman. She made her acting debut in 2006 with a leading role in Gangster. She won a Filmfare as well as a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as a troubled model in Fashion (2008). She is done many women centric movies and always appraised for her performances in there. We believe she will soon be participating in many social activites for the welfare of women and girls in society.
