Samrat & Co. Trailer Psychoanalysis
First of all, we will talk about challenges to this movie.
Movie seems promising but it has to deal with two major drawbacks. First, Indian suspense movie audience is very limited. A good suspense movie is appreciated, if made with deep clarity. But bollywood has very limited good suspense movies. Any such good suspense movie can touch the heart of Indian audience, but its scarcity is really disappointing. India’s most famous local detective till date is Vyomkesh Bakshi (TV Series). The young generation of India is smart and mature enough to get into it. We hope Samrat & Co. will add more flavor in this category.
Secondly, Indian suspense movies are mostly either claimed to be copied, or detective is potrayed as an idiot. Samrat & Co. seems highly inspired from Sherlock Holmes. Many are expecting this movie as bad copy of Sherlock Holmes. But, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost….just wait and watch. We believe Indians can do way better then hollywood with respect to Indian culture.
The most promising parts of movie are: First, Rajeev Khandelwal acting. Rajeev Khandelwal is one of the finest actors in industry. With a good team, his acting can easily bound anybody to watch till the end. We hope for same magic will repeat this time.
Second, Kavita K. Barjatya – a successful TV shows producer, and Kaushik Ghatak already worked a lot with her. We hope, they can generate the same magic on silver screen together.
Thirdly, the movie may or may not be a copy of Sherlock Holmes. But, declaring it as bad copy is too early. We must not forget that besides our Internet friendly audience, most of Indians have never enjoyed the suspense of Sherlock Holmes. A good copy can also entertain them, which is basic rule of our industry.
But, many of us would have been enjoyed it more, if Rajshri had put a disclaimer of inspiration at starting of trailer..:).
