Ugly is a 2013 Hindi psychological thriller and an emotional drama film written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film was screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. It also opened the 2014 New York Indian Film Festival.

UGLY movie Story Sketch
A girl Kali is kidnapped, when she was with her father on a Saturday. Her father Rahul, is a struggling actor. Kali and her house-wife mother living with Kali’s step-father Bose, who is a police-chief.
Now, a race is started between Rahul and Bose to find Kali, and trap each other as accuse of Kali’s kidnap.
UGLY movie delayed release in India
Ugly movie was planned to get released in India in 2013. But, at that time, a regulation was made to display “Smoking is Injurious to Health” at the bottom right corner of the frame, when any character is shown smoking. Anurag Kashyap is fighting against this regulation, and delayed the Ugly release for same reason.
Now, he decided to continue his fighting, but to release Ugly.
